Serving for -2

Ingredients:

1 cup small cubes of paneer / cottage cheese
Half cup of frozen green peas
1 medium onion – cut into cubes
1 cup tomato puree
1 and half tsp of ginger garlic paste
half tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of red chilli powder
half tsp of paprika
1 tsp of coriander seeds
1 bay leaf
5-6 cloves
half tsp black pepper
1 tsp cumin seeds
1-2 black cardamom
1 stick of cinnamon
Half tsp of kasoori methi / dry fenugreek leaves
2 tsp oil
3 tsp ghee
4 tsp whipping cream
salt to taste
water 1-2 cup
cilantro for garnishing

Procedure:

  • Heat up 2 tsp oil in pan and shallow fry paneer till they get light golden color. Take out fried paneer onto a paper towel and add coriander seeds, cinnamon stick, black cardamom, cloves, black pepper and bay leaf in remaining oil. Saute for a minute and add chopped onion to it. Saute for 3-4 minutes till onion becomes translucent. Cool down the mixture completely. Make the smooth onion masala puree in blender and keep it aside. Make sure you take out bay leaf before adding mixture to blender.
  • Heat up ghee in frying pan. Add ginger garlic paste and turmeric powder to it. Then add onion puree and saute for 2 minutes. Then add tomato puree and mix well. Let it cook till all moisture goes away. Keep stirring in between. Add red chili powder, paprika, salt to taste and cook spices till oil starts to loose out.
  • Then add 1 cup of water and make smooth gravy. Adjust the consistency as per your own requirements. Once gravy starts to boil, add fried paneer cubes to it. Let the paneer cook in gravy for 5-6 minutes. Finally add frozen green peas, kasoori methi, whipping cream and cook gravy for about 5 minutes on low heat. Switch off the heat and garnish with cilantro.
