Ingredients:
1 cup rawa/sooji
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tsp of oil
1 tsp of mustard seeds
1 tsp of cumin seeds
1 tsp urad dal/ white lentils
3-4 curry leaves
half tsp of baking powder
salt to taste
for garnishing:
half cup of shredded carrots
half cup chopped cilantro
Procedure:
- Heat up oil in pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and let them crackle. Add urad dal and saute for few seconds. Add sooji to it and roast for 2-3 minutes on low heat. Let it cool down.
- Add yogurt and salt to taste. Finally add baking powder and mix gently. Add water if needed. Consistency of batter should be thick.
- Grease the idli moulds and and pour mixture in it. You can use carrots, cilantro to make the colorful idlis.Steam the idlis in idli steamer for about 20 minutes. Serve with sambar or coconut chutney.
