Dal Vada Curry

- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, pinch of asafoetda and cumin seeds. Let them crackle. Add chopped onion and saute till it turns translucent.
- Add chopped garlic and ginger. Saute for few seconds.
- Add tomato cubes and saute for 4-5 minutes. Once the tomatoes turns soft, add red chili powder, turmeric powder, ground masala and salt to taste. Saute till oil start to separate from spices.
- Add 2 cups of hot water. Once the curry comes to boil, add dal vada to it and reduce the heat. Let the curry simmer for about 5-6 minutes. Sprinkle some chopped cilantro and serve hot with chapati or plain rice.
