To make 8 rolls
Ingredients
1 and half cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 tsp rapid dry yeast
2 and half tsp cocoa powder
2 tsp powdered sugar
2 tsp butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp olive oil
For filling
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 cup tutti frutti
Procedure
- Take 2 tsp flour in a mixing bowl. Add sugar and yeast. Add warm milk (temperature should be between 105 to 115 degrees F) and give it a quick mix. Cover the bowl with cotton towel and keep in a warm place for about 10 minutes.
- Mixture will become fluffy as yeast gets activated. Add cocoa powder to it and mix well. Now start adding little flour at a time and keep mixing till it gets dough like consistency. Now spread some flour on a counter and knead the dough using stretch and fold technique. Knead for 10-15 minutes. Apply some oil on dough and again knead for 5 minutes. Keep the dough in a bowl and cover with cotton towel. Let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour. (I usually prefer to keep dough in a oven. Place a pot full of hot water into oven, that will help to make oven little warm than regular.)
- After 1 hour, dough will become double in size. Punch it little bit to remove air. Spread some flour on counter. Place the dough on it and stretch little bit from all sides. Now, roll it gently in a oval shape.
- To make the filling mix cinnamon and sugar into a mixing bowl. Spread some butter on rolled sheet. Now evenly spread sugar cinnamon filling on it. Add some tutti frutti on top and press gently. Roll sheet like a log and cut it into 8 equal sized pieces. Place them onto baking tray and cover with cotton towel. Again keep it in a warm place to raise for about 30-40 minutes. Preheat the over to 350 degrees F. Bake cinnamon rolls in a oven for 35 minutes. If you like to add glaze on roll, you can add it once they are out of the oven.
