For making 8-10 pakoras
Ingredients
1 big onion - cut into thin slices
3/4 cup spinach - roughly chopped
3/4 cup gram flour
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1/4 cumin powder
1/2 tsp carom seeds
salt to taste
oil for frying
Procedure
- Take sliced onion in a mixing bowl. Add red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds, and salt to taste. Mix well and cover it. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes. Onion will loose some water by this time.
- Add chopped spinach and start adding little gram flour at a time and mix well. There is no need to add water in it. Mixture should be little dry.
- Drop medium sized pakoras in a hot oil and deep fry till they get nice golden brown color. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or any chutney.
